I tassi di suicidio tra gli anziani sono alti
In Connecticut, dal 2015 al 2019, il 21,3% dei suicidi erano uomini bianchi non ispanici di età superiore ai 65 anni.
A livello nazionale, nel 2019 i tassi di suicidio erano massimo negli adulti di età pari o superiore a 85 anni.

I fattori di rischio per il suicidio negli anziani includono:
Depressione
Precedenti tentativi di suicidio
Sentimenti marcati di disperazione; mancanza di interesse per i progetti futuri
Sentimenti di perdita di indipendenza o senso di scopo
Condizioni mediche che limitano significativamente il funzionamento o l'aspettativa di vita
Impulsività per deterioramento cognitivo
Isolamento sociale
Discordia o perdite familiari (recente morte di una persona cara)
Personalità inflessibile o marcata difficoltà di adattamento al cambiamento
Accesso a mezzi letali (armi da fuoco, altre armi)
Comportamento audace o audace
Cambiamenti di personalità improvvisi
Abuso o abuso di alcol o farmaci
Minacce di suicidio verbali come "Staresti meglio senza di me" o "Forse non ci sarò"
Regalare beni preziosi

How Right Now Campaign Shares Mental Health and Coping Resources for Public School Teachers and Staff
As a division of RYASAP, we are pleased to announce our partnership with the How Right Now (HRN) Teacher’s campaign, which is focused on understanding and supporting the needs of public-school K-12 teachers and school staff who are encountering high levels of stress, burnout and grief. HRN provides tailored resources and tools aimed to increase awareness of emotional health issues, enhance the coping skills of teachers and school staff, and improve their adaptability and resilience.

This campaign is made possible through funding by the CDC Foundation. We are excited to work alongside a team of organizational partners to help improve individual and community resilience among public school teachers and school staff.
