NAMI Family to Family starting 9/11


NAMI Family to Family Classes begin September 11, 2017 in Stamford & Fairfield!

Family to Family is NAMI's FREE signature class that supports family members, significant others and friends better understand and support their loved ones who are struggling with a mental illness.

If you haven't taken Family to Family yet, this is the time to take advantage of the wealth of information available, presented in a supportive and caring environment by folks who have been there. Research has shown that people who take these classes have improved coping and problem solving skills as it relates to their loved one living with a mental health challenge.

Topics covered in this 12 week session:

  • How to manage crises, solve problems and communicate effectively

  • Taking care of yourself and managing your stress

  • Developing the confidence and stamina to provide support with compassion

  • Finding and using local supports and services

  • Up-to-date information on mental health conditions and how they affect the brain

  • Current treatments, including evidence-based therapies, medications and side effects

  • The impact of mental illness on the entire family

While classes are FREE, registration is required as space is limited.
