October marks the beginning of Wellness Month! Join The Hub as we celebrate mental health all month long with wellness events that include screenings, networking opportunities, and resources.
This region-wide initiative developed by the former Southwest Regional Mental Health Board grew out of the National Depression Screening Day (NDSD) program but uses a more strengths-based, engaging approach. We focus on wellness, providing tips and activities related to the 8 Dimensions of Wellness model developed by SAMHSA.
Our goals are to outreach to the community with mental health and substance use information and resources, to normalize the idea of getting a "check-up from the neck up,” and to promote early detection through screenings and referrals to treatment. We use our integrated behavioral health screening tool (here) that maximizes each opportunity by screening for mental illness, substance misuse, gambling, nicotine, other behaviors of concern, and domestic violence.
We hope to see you at an upcoming event and to be able to provide you, your family and friends with information and resources and to help those who are at risk to get help. Thanks also to all who are hosting a Wellness Month event, serving as a volunteer to engage people or participating as a clinician! We hope that you all help to spread the word!
